Cycle Chic

....Is there such a thing??? I'm just asking!

Apparently YES!!

LOVE the leather gloves!

Somehow I ended up here today, don't ask me how, but the Copenhagen part got me interested.

I am so not the cycling type, never was! I must say these three ladies make it look so impossibly chic!!

By the way...

My first bike was blue, I remember it fondly.
My last bike was hot pink.... not so fondly!!!

Fashion

Remember when Domino decorated and styled a room,
inspired by an outfit?
I am thinking this striking gown and the black & white pillows down the runway would work well for the images below...

Cool, huh?

I spy....

.....Black & White.

Graphic. Classic. Fun? What do you think?

Inspired by the images posted yesterday, I just had to share these great "black and white" images from my files.

How nice and bright is this mud room!

By Malene Birger

When in Denmark, a trip (or two) to Copenhagen is an absolute must!!
I miss living in this city.....

I love the window shopping, I love the cafe life and the people watching is the best!
Walking down the small side streets, shopping the cool stores, getting ideas.... THE BEST!

I make it a point to visit Malene Birgers Boutique and just the other day I came across this article, featuring her gorgeous home.

Malene Birger is one of my absolute favorite designers, and I always get a kick out of seeing how designers live and design their home!

It is easy to see how her style at home caries over to the flagship store.

By the way...
I too live with a rolling rack.... I think it is an occupational hassard, only mine is not so beautifully edited, but there is always hope.

I spy….

….Yellow!

For people who know me, yellow is definitely NOT my color….. But I might be coming around; lately I have been spotting this cheery color everywhere both in interiors and in fashion, and I just might add a little bit of sunshine to my universe.

When I moved in to my current home, the previous owners had the entire place painted yellow, plus all the trim work two different shades of green (don’t ask), subsequently we painted the entire interior. The house was Addison Mizner Pink on the outside (ugly and old-looking), no where near tropical pink, or even a nice shade of pale Miami pink, not pretty at all! Now the exterior is a very pale yellow, has white trim work; it actually looks nice with the red tile roof…….

Would you dare to commit to these bright yellow glossy doors?

How about painting the ceiling yellow?
I guess we all have to step out of the box sometimes!

Who inspires you?

…What inspires you? I have asked that question so many times, I get a different answer each time! Some people are inspired by travel, some by books, and others by simply taking a walk. Recently I have come across quite a few people answering that question with; Cooking!

Perhaps a sign of the times (we cook more at home), perhaps the holiday season (cooking for friends and family), perhaps……

Just to clarify…. I am not the cook at home! I leave that to the professionals, but recently I too have been inspired by food. – No, I did not yet see the Julie & Julia movie, but I hear it is good.

A few Sundays ago, I came across Ina Garten on TV. She was going “back to basics” and I watched her cook chicken breast stuffed with goat cheese, sun dried tomato and fresh basil….. I attempted this without a recipe, after all, how hard could “basic” be? Surprise! It turned out wonderful and I am inspired to try something different!

Today I picked up “Barefoot Contessa Back to Basics” by Ina Garten and I am so looking forward to leaning more from her! Mustard-roasted fish anyone?

(I know this book has been blogged about 117 times, but I was just so happy and inspired!!!)

By the way...
Don't you just love her kitchen? I am in the beginning stages of redesigning our small kitchen, but that will be part of another blog entry, perhaps even a few entries!

Have fun cooking!

Happy New Year!

Wow... It is intimidating to start this blog!!

I have been reading blogs from all over the world for several years now, leaving comments and re-visiting time and again!

The blogs of Anna Spiro, Heather Clawson, Michelle Adams and most recently Reggie Darling come to mind.
The Dreamhouse blog was "my first", I stumbled across the blog researching the fantastic book Nordliv many years ago and was instantly hooked.

I hope to bring a little Scandinavian Simplicity and some International Trends to these pages, using this blog as my virtual inspiration board....
By the way...

Please be warned English is my second language; I have always been the worst speller in my native language. Forgive me if I miss spell a word or two!

I wish you a very Happy New Year!
