Blog Love!

As someone in the know, I am sure you have heard the buzz about the newly opened Serena & Lily store in Wainscott... Well, there is a new blog to go with that, for all of us who wants to follow from afar, it's called The Story.

Here's to wishing I could visit in person, looks amazing, inviting, fun and very Hampton's!

Admittedly I am a total sucker for well done displays, and this little color story totally caught my eye!

There was a great little summer entertaining story on the blog a few days back, makes me want to have a garden party... BUT, considering I live in Florida, we will have to wait... too hot, even in the evenings, too muggy, humidity is thick, and the mosquitos are deadly... :) so we will wait a little!

At the end of the month the new Serena & Lily Fall Catalog will launch, here is a little look behind the scenes.

Until then... Happy web-shopping to me :)

Designer at home.

First of all... let's just establish the fact that I am incredibly nosy when it comes to the way designers live at home, I just have to see! However, I am not so sure I would be equally as excited if someone was to look into my own digs.... :) That would just be intimidating!!

Well, I came across these images of tableware designer Peri Wolfman and her husband, still life photographer, Charles Gold's home in Southampton. Peri has just finished designing the brand new tableware collection for RH. Classic design, beautifully finished, cool colors (besides the all white she is known for). Sneak a peek here.

Nothing like open shelves to force you to be organized, it just does not work if you are not into the art of beautiful displays, even when it comes to every day objects!!

Besides the interesting light fixture above the island, I am all for maximizing storage, and by doubling up the cabinets below, there is a place for everything, and everything in it's place...

When your home looks like this, downsizing does not feel so bad, right?? Both the camel back sofa and the wingback chairs can be found at RH.

Flea market finds mingle well! When color and texture is considered, this vintage miniature church becomes a sculpture.

... you just know you are in a home of a very meticulous person, when even the matches are artfully displayed :)

In the all white guest bath, the straight lines are broken by the round iron mirror. The pale braided rope makes for a casual vibe and lends great texture. PS. I love this Kohler pedestal sink, it happens to be in my guest bath as well, can't go wrong with the clean lines!!

A slightly different look in the master bedroom... cool grey, reflective finishes, silk taffeta drapes, along with a cozy corner.

Keeping everyday objects on display, makes for easy access, and function becomes more than just that... here twine, rope and yarn fills a beautiful clean lined bowl.

Hope you enjoyed this peak into Tableware designer Peri Wolfman's new home.
She very much lives with the clean lines she designs, the natural tones she applies to the Dinnerware and has a wonderful eye for texture, selecting beautiful materials for the RH flatware collection!

Everybody loves a makeover!

So, what do you do if you have a house in an attractive location (The Hampton's), but it's in need of a major makeover.... Did I mention your budget is tiny?? Well, if you were so lucky (as these homeowners are) to have Eddie Ross as a friend, why not simply ask for help!!!!?

This 1960's ranch style house barely made it into the '70's... and got stuck! Eddie Ross and his team to the rescue!! No doubt about it, good bone structure helps, so does tons of white paint, and a good eye for spotting a fabulous deal on furniture. A fresh new pallet in white and pretty blues, with pops of color, Voila!

The only major renovation to the house was taking away the triangular part of the front window, streamlining the space. Tall white curtains keeps the space soft, while still letting in tons of light!! Infusing the room with a few natural elements (shells, sea grass rug, bamboo side table, wood coffee table, flowers) keeps it fresh, pretty and livable.

What before was an eyesore (believe you me!), now has become a focal point. The bookshelf on the back wall, has been dressed in new crisp white paint, with a wonderful soft blue on the back. Decorating the bookshelf with artifacts, photographs and books, Eddie was able to bring in a little interest to the room, drawing you in.... Don't you want to take a closer look? Well here is your chance; the entire room, as it was photographed for Country Living, below...

As you can see in the image (top right) this space was in need of SERIOUS help, and I just love how this all came together. As these images are not new and if you have seen them before, so be it, I have had them in my file for a while, and I must say I love what was done here, how it all came together, the final makeover was a total success in my eyes! Job well done, Eddie!

Aren't makeovers fun? Love before and afters, since we so easily forget what was, in our excitement of the new :)
