New on the Virtual Newsstand… x 2

Last couple of days have been sporting two fresh virtual magazines for you to dive into. Rue magazine is out with their Small Space issue, and there are some really cool looking small apartments, I especially liked the Studio of Dru Ortega. Take a look…

And then yesterday… Matchbook magazine launched, I immediately was drawn to the editorial on Tuckernuck… all things preppy!

Have fun reading.

New on the Virtual Newsstand... (kind-a!)

Truthfully... you can't really go wrong with the tired and true Blue & White color scheme!
These beautiful images are from the new Matchbook Magazine, and they had me at "Jewel Box"... You'll see, turn to page 40.

I guess this is what happens when you go to the flower market, and is unable to make up your mind! - you just get one of each ;)

In the - fairly - new rue magazine, you can find a beautifully photographed country house and a delicious dinner party, perfect for the upcoming holiday season! I especially loved the cell phone tray, great idea!! ... a small platter set out for everyone to park their cell phones on, only to be picked back up upon leaving the dinner party, perfect conversation starter & perfect for dinner conversation :)

Happy reading!

New on the Virtual Newsstand...

Here you go, a heads up to a brand new rue mag for September 2013! ... and it's a really good one this time :)

Cover girl and Interior Designer Catherine Kwong invites us to view her home.... LOVING the blend of colors and natural elements. Intrigued to find out about the framed Icelandic flag!

Designer Brian Paquette has the style I am most drawn to... however, it's nothing like what my own home looks like, nor any my clients. But then again, I am in the complete opposite direction of the country, and styles are so different from state to state... reminds me very much of a Scandinavian home, and yet this home could be found in the Hamptons as well!

So, go on, explore these new designers for yourself...
Happy reading - & drooling!

Wedding News!

Today the very first rue wedding issue hit the virtual newsstand, and while I am not in the market for anything "wedding" at the moment, I still thought it was worth checking out!
I am happy to report that the issue is not full of wedding gowns, but rather with very tastefully selected accessories for all your registry needs and wants. Party planner advise along with an invitation to view editor-in-chief, Crystal Gentilello, own bridal shower. Super issue!

If you are still looking for more Wedding inspiration, check out Lovely Wedding Magazine, published by Loni Parker of adore Home fame, with quite a few dedicated wedding issues under her belt, there is a lot to read and look at...

Enjoy the festivities!

New on the Virtual Newsstand... x 2

So, here we are, lots of newness to dive into :)

Check out the new rue magazine, second regional issue, covering the Pacific Northwest in style!

Another great magazine hit the Virtual Newsstand yesterday as well... Get your free copy here.

As Mothers Day is fast approaching (in the US), I thought the editorial Mother Daughter Duo of Deux Lux handbags was very appropriate and inspiring!
LOVE the eclectic mix in Sara Naghidi's Manhattan apartment!!

Happy reading,
Natasha

New on the Virtual Newsstand...

Rue magazine has just released their new October / November 2012 issue, 154 pages of goodness. I found that there was a "new look", but that could just be me, a different vibe, a little cooler and with a slight edge.

Throughly enjoyed the ANKASA Studio Tour, their pillows are on top of my list, always, but out of my league unfortunately! Their embroidery is exquisite, and after watching this short video on their website (scroll to bottom) of a pillow in the making, I want one even more :)

I borrowed the above image from the Rediscovering Home story, as I am currently drawn to the cool grays warmed up with brass, and I have always loved a tall taper! PS. The gray faux shagreen round tray from Made Goods is equally beautiful, in fact I just placed this exact one in a clients home.

Have a wonderful start to November,
Natasha

New on the Virtual Newsstand... Y'all!

Come on down to Texas y'all, the new rue magazine is leading the way!
I was very tempted to call this post "Fifty Shades of Grey," but thought the better of it :)
Anyhow... now that I have your attention, I would like to say that I am a new fan of Graphic Artist & Interior Decorator Samantha Reitmayer Sano.

The girls at rue saved the best for last! I am totally crushing on the muted colors, the warmth and all the natural textures in this home. OK, so one confession I do have to make. There are one to many accessories for my taste (or my lifestyle for that matter) but for the purpose of the photo shoot, it is really working well!! ... is it just me, or did you also expect to see Texas Longhorns above that cabinet, and not antlers...?? Check out the entire house on page 126.

... and these two little guys, well they are from a completely different feature, don't ask why I am including them here, I just thought they were charming!!

Happy reading,
Natasha

Morning Java

It's Saturday morning and how wonderful would it be to start the day here at this pretty, bright spot?

Make your favorite coffee drink, fill a pretty bowl with berries, be rejuvenated by the wonderful light and take in this wonderful display of everyday cups and bowls. This reminds me of how important it is (to me at least) to make the most of everyday objects, make your surroundings so that you are happy in your home!! Order is a big factor for me, but of course I also have my share of mess, don't be fooled :)

The above image comes to you via the NEW rue magazine (Cassandra Lavalle's own digs are on display, my friends), so... go make that breakfast, bring your iPad or computer to a cozy spot and enjoy!

New on the Virtual Newsstand...

It's here, the new rue magazine! Finally!!
I have been craving some new inspiration, and the March/April issue delivers...

I chose this image since I so rarely have any red in my image selections... and this dark red totally does it for me :)!!! I think the layering of the empty frames and mix of textures is interesting, oh, and yes... it's five o'clock somewhere, right?

Check out the feature on Kelie Grosso of Maison Luxe. What a fantastic workspace, loving all the white and pops of color! And those windows... to die for!!

Natasha

P.S.
Maison Luxe has a website with great info, portfolio and webshop (here)
as well as a blog (here).

New on the Virtual Newsstand...

Hi there...

The new rue magazine is out, and I just had to thumb through, looking forward to really diving in tonight!!

I was surprised by Winters Embrace... cool fashion shoot, and the wall mural on page 96 is AMAZING!! Super cool :)

The interior space that I was drawn to, at first glance, belong to Danielle Moss. Her Chicago apartment is full of natural light, a beautiful white space with lots of personality. I can't wait to study the images :) ... there is even a blog to check out as well. And soon The Everygirl will launch, should be exciting for sure!!

Enjoy!

New on the virtual newsstand...

RUE issue number five is out, and it's soooo much better than issue four, in my humble opinion!

The team went for quality over quantity and it shows!! I particularly love the Scandinavian story - as you knew I would - but, truthfully, there are a lot of really good stuff this time, lots of ideas to get you ready for out-door entertaining, or just a get together with friends....

Happy reading!

The fourth issue looks very pretty, organic, natural and bohemian, lots of good stuff to read!

AND this is my favorite image from the issue, so fresh and spring-y :)

Are you ready for your Close-up?

I so wish I could say yes!!! My office looks nothing like this, but.... perhaps some day it will have a little bit of this cool factor!!

I really like this lucite tray, it is non obtrusive, yet it keeps things in order. I like using a box when working on a project, keeping the fabrics, paint chips, tiles etc in check this way! It works really well for me; it's easy to edit and if it growes on you, it's the right combo.... something that does not work with the project sticks out real fast, I promise!!

And she's ready for her close-up!!
How do you work a color scheme? Trays or boxes? Filing drawers? Or? Please share some wisdom, perhaps we can all learn some new tricks :)!!

TGIF!!

American Beauty

Woke up this morning full of anticipation..... Being part of the Late Night Crew on Friday night, Crystal had send out a blog post that Monday morning the new rue magazine would hit the virtual newsstand, and I could hardly wait!

Beautiful images and lovely stories (have not read the whole issue just yet), I am looking forward to spending a little quality time with rue, perhaps this evening.

Of course I flipped through the entire issue, and the article about Windsor Smith "American Beauty" will be the one I will be reading first, as I totally adore her interiors!!!!!

I just grabbed this image from rues new Gallery because of the lamp base and the Hermes belt.... I know, it's very shallow, but for those of you who have kept up with Northern Light will know I have a slight infatuation with the Hermes logo! It must be because of my two last names as both start with the letter H.....  Hope you have a quiet moment to curl up, rue does not disappoint, check it out here!

Have a great week every one,
Natasha

Black & White

Black and white does not have to be stark, dark, cold or any of those negative things!! Check out this beautifully composed bedroom....

The mirror, well, check out an old post here for more on that, but what I really would love to know, is where to get those super cute dog pillows?? Does anyone know?

Very cool texture on the lamp base.... like little tree stumps :)
I have always liked a good tray table, and these do not disappoint!

Why not have a black & white cookie today ;).....
