Dark Mood!

For no particular reason I am feeling the mood of these dark and moody bedrooms! 
They are the total opposite of my own bedroom, however, I am finding all three to be the coolest thing around town today :)

This last one is - in my eye - the most feminine of all three, perhaps the orchid on the bed side table contributes to that? Actually, by looking closer, all three images have flowers, hmmmm... Must be the powder colored panels hanging from the canopy then.

Would you go this dark? Or do you like a lighter and brighter bedroom?? I think it's a super cool thing to do, but probably would not work as well as intended in a tropical environment.

Always look at the bright side ;)

I'm Baaaaack....

It's been a fantastic trip to NYC, there is no arguing that... I have walked more than I care to share :), it's been super hot and humid... I have taken a lot of photographs, met some wonderful people and after a looooong trip home (four (!) flight delays, resulting in an arrival time well past midnight), I am spending some quality time in my house today, before starting back up tomorrow!

While I was away, Lonny magazine published their August 2012 issue.
I am sure you have all "been there, done that", but I am looking forward to a few moments of peace and quiet!

Venetian Beauty...

Just leaving you with a beautiful image today... I have been looking for images and design inspiration in pale tones, and came across this beauty of a (bedroom) mirror! So pretty... still love the way these mirrors look, are you still loving them too, or??

I have been incredibly busy;
Family in town for two weeks, design jobs that are at different stages of (in)completion...
and summer heat makes me want to just stay at the beach in the morning, and indoor during the crazy heat in the middle of the day!! Now I fully understand the need for siesta :)

I was drawn to this image today. I like a good bedside image, you know, one of those where everything is in its place, fresh flowers on the table, artwork and good reading light... To me this TOTALLY WORKS!
... I'm just not sure I would have dressed the bed in those sheets, considering the headboard, but that's just me :)

What is the verdict?

Soft spot of the day...

Isn't this a cozy spot to sleep? And pretty too! Just because you don't have a lot of space, doesn't mean you can't make it pretty and inviting!!

I am sorry for the lack of daily posts, I have been in a bit of a slump, so a little time away "form the world" has been in order... Hope you will hang in there with me :)

I find this magazine to be more about good articles, than just pretty pictures, so it requires that I take some more time, which of cause I will do this evening....

RUE issue number five is out, and it's soooo much better than issue four, in my humble opinion!

The team went for quality over quantity and it shows!! I particularly love the Scandinavian story - as you knew I would - but, truthfully, there are a lot of really good stuff this time, lots of ideas to get you ready for out-door entertaining, or just a get together with friends....

Pillow Talk

I came across this beautiful bedroom this morning, on my morning blog-tour....
What first grabbed my attention was the soothing colors, then after further studying the image, I noticed that the wallpaper and pillow fabric (by Nina Cambell) is the same. I love that the headboard fabric is a bit more satuated. The gourd style lamp base is also in the color family, as well as the floor covering. The styling is impeccable, notice the back of the books in the nightstand! Pillow fabric and wallpaper available here. 

Would you cover the walls and the bedding in the same fabric? A little much, or?
To me... it's just perfect, especially because it has been broken up by all the white, as well as the natural wood.

Gorgeous, girly, pretty and super beautiful Venetian mirror.... I just couldn't help it, I had to show one more image from the new High Gloss Magazine, it's so full of good ideas and pretty interiors! These peach-y colors are usually not me, but really.... HOW PRETTY!!

Pastel love

Yesterday I received the new Coastal Living magazine in the mail. Despite the bright and cheerful cover, this guest bedroom by designer Tim Clarke is what "had me at hello" :) !!

As a Northern Light reader, I am sure you are aware, that I do not often post pastel-y images, not really my thing.... BUT, I LOVE THIS ROOM!   - can't help it....

... and so I figured I would follow it up with an equally pretty powder room...

... and then there was this beautiful image of lavender fragrance and cleaning products, that has been in my file for a little while, now spring cleaning doesn't look so bad, huh?

Happy Monday!

Ohhhhh, how I totally did not want to get out of bed today!! I was hoping the weekend could last a little longer, if not a few hours more.... and if only my bedroom only looked this good and pulled together...

I L.O.V.E the color of the upholstered bed and the duvet cover is fantastic! A little traditional, but it's really a nice mix I think, you? And you can't beat the fresh flowers on the nightstand. Notice how the edge of the skirt on the nightstand picks up the teal color in the headboard and also makes the accent in the duvet pop!

I spy...

... a beautiful dusty green!
How soothing is this pretty bedroom, not to mention the beautiful view just outside the open door!

I really like the pretty dusty green of the headboard against the soft gray walls! Notice the pattern in the quilt has the same sage color. Makes you wonder what came first, the bed spread or the painted headboard?? Hmmm....

Well, I think the answer is the fabric came first, and then the paint was mixed (now that you see the color in the kitchen as well), am I right?? Then again, they could just have been lucky with the fabric....
Isn't this a wonderful country kitchen? Love the color of the bench, not a fan of Spanish tile, never was, but they work in this house, grounding the space. Considering this is probably a vacation home, they are super easy to clean, so why not....

Did you notice the tiny little touch of pink in the chandelier?

Staying Neutral

A little while back a posted an image of a neutral Suzani bead spread, and I am now following that up with a few really cool images of a small bedroom, Enjoy!

Isn't this pretty?? Love all the white on white, and then the texture from the basket is picked up in the pillows, as well as in the beautiful Suzani.

Now, admittedly, the purple / lavender throw is not a color I would have even thought to use here, but it really does work, don't you think? Perhaps the Suzani has a hint of that color woven in, it's hard to tell.....

Notice the wood sculptures... perhaps a nod to Vincent Wolf?

Black and white does not have to be stark, dark, cold or any of those negative things!! Check out this beautifully composed bedroom....

The mirror, well, check out an old post here for more on that, but what I really would love to know, is where to get those super cute dog pillows?? Does anyone know?

It's (still) the Weekend...

.. at least for a few more hours!

Had a few quiet days; Visiting the local antique stores, made it home with a few really cool items (I'll share later), perfect for the upcoming holiday season. Stopped at the market, and baked a wonderful Pumpkin Bread! I was inspired by Trina this week!

Been looking for bedroom inspiration...
rumor has it our bedside tables are arriving next week ! Yeah!!

Punch of Color

How GREAT does this look?

I have been on the lookout for bedroom images lately, wanting to make over ours. I can't quite decide if the all white should be infused with pops of color (like this) or kept serene.... Then again, theses are for the most part pillow covers, so it would be easy to change either way!

... and really, these two images have nothing to do with each other, I just liked how they compliment the White with a Punch of Color-theme ;)
