A Celebration...

A celebration is in order!!  The Northern Light Blog turns 4 years today, and what a wonderful time it's been, reading all your blog posts out there, writing my own, and following along with others from a far!

You might think I have lost my marbles, posting three images of the same venue, but I can explain… well, actually… I just couldn't choose, and I kinda like the natural progression :)

This beautiful table was done up by non other than India Hicks, for - what I am absolutely sure was - an amazing New Years Eve Celebration on Harbour Island in the Bahamas.
I take it my invite must have gotten lost in the mail ;)

Have a wonderful, festive, fun New Year!

Pretty Table Top Inspiration

I just received my daily Domaine Home Inspirational Newsletter, and while there are days I just don't have the time to click through, today was different...

These pretty images were from Lindsay Lohan & Kathryn Irelands project, featured briefly on The Million Dollar Decorators, where KI was decorating LL's home, but prior to us seeing the reveal, LL ended up in a car accident... and we never got to see the finished project. Well, check out this link, and you can see what was created. I remember from the few episodes, that I really liked LL's home! The light & the vibe, but the interiors were awful ... LOL!

Meanwhile, these table top images were what stood out to me, love the eclectic feel, the colors and the casual vibe of outdoor entertaining!

Designer at home.

First of all... let's just establish the fact that I am incredibly nosy when it comes to the way designers live at home, I just have to see! However, I am not so sure I would be equally as excited if someone was to look into my own digs.... :) That would just be intimidating!!

Well, I came across these images of tableware designer Peri Wolfman and her husband, still life photographer, Charles Gold's home in Southampton. Peri has just finished designing the brand new tableware collection for RH. Classic design, beautifully finished, cool colors (besides the all white she is known for). Sneak a peek here.

Nothing like open shelves to force you to be organized, it just does not work if you are not into the art of beautiful displays, even when it comes to every day objects!!

Besides the interesting light fixture above the island, I am all for maximizing storage, and by doubling up the cabinets below, there is a place for everything, and everything in it's place...

When your home looks like this, downsizing does not feel so bad, right?? Both the camel back sofa and the wingback chairs can be found at RH.

Flea market finds mingle well! When color and texture is considered, this vintage miniature church becomes a sculpture.

... you just know you are in a home of a very meticulous person, when even the matches are artfully displayed :)

In the all white guest bath, the straight lines are broken by the round iron mirror. The pale braided rope makes for a casual vibe and lends great texture. PS. I love this Kohler pedestal sink, it happens to be in my guest bath as well, can't go wrong with the clean lines!!

A slightly different look in the master bedroom... cool grey, reflective finishes, silk taffeta drapes, along with a cozy corner.

Keeping everyday objects on display, makes for easy access, and function becomes more than just that... here twine, rope and yarn fills a beautiful clean lined bowl.

Hope you enjoyed this peak into Tableware designer Peri Wolfman's new home.
She very much lives with the clean lines she designs, the natural tones she applies to the Dinnerware and has a wonderful eye for texture, selecting beautiful materials for the RH flatware collection!

Last Christmas Post of the Year...

I just could not help myself, even though we are past Christmas... I bet many of you are still enjoying the wonderful pine smell from your Christmas tree, the cozy & festive feeling of a well Christmas decorated house, perhaps even still enjoying all the wonderful food Christmas has to offer...?

Prior to Christmas I was the lucky recipient of an invitation to a Danish Christmas get-together here in The States... Besides good food and great company, we did a little DIY Christmas decor, mostly for the sake of "Hygge" and fun. I have not made these little paper stars in many, many years, but with a little starter help, I finishes six or seven that evening. They are so pretty and now I want to get a head start on next years Christmas :) I imagine a tree full of these in different sizes...

How about this great room, complete with amazing light - the house is in Norway - a tall and open Christmas tree, and a beautifully decorated table.

Glogg.... Yes, please!
I would love a warm cup of Glogg complete with Chocolate Chip Cookies!!

I encourage you to take a full look at this house, it's amazing. True Scandinavian decor, lot's of White & lot's of light.

Enjoy the last days of... well, December.

Setting the table...

Almost there people... Now is the time to start thinking about how you will set the table :) I say shimmer and soft green will do it for me!
I just adore this pretty little place card holder, thinking it will make the table a little more formal...

Enjoy planning the table decor!! Cheers :)

Shopping: Hudson I Grace, San Fransisco

The newly opened Hudson I Grace on Sacramento Street in San Francisco, is the dream of Monelle Totha and Gary McNatton.  I had the pleasure of meeting Monelle a few years back, when she was VP of Design & Merchandising at Williams-Sonoma HomeI featured Monelle's home here on the blog, check it out.

Creativity at work here... I am struggling with my words... do I call this "good merchandising", "color coordinated" or...? But who knew that a huge pumpkin could be this decorative and actually make you long for an orange cowhide rug at the same time??

The flowers, the flowers... When you do it right, there is nothing more fantastic than a huge amount of the same kind of blooms. These orange tulips would brighten up even the dullest, rainy, grey San Francisco day, don't you agree??

Yes, please! I LOVE library tables, I tend to get to this spot, and than I get lost for a little while...

Beautiful white tabletop, exclusive to Hudson I Grace. Elegant & clean lined.

Wonderful linen napkins. With 21 shades to choose from, you are bound to find a shade or two that you will want to take home with you!!

Proprietors and friends; Monelle & Gary.

I know, I know...  I am trying to bribe you to stay a little longer, by "throwing in" the adorable-dog image... but in all fairness, the image was posted on the HG website, and just too cute to pass up! Bet the owner of the puppy is taking her sweet old time browsing, as I am sure you would too :)

Happy Shopping!

Natasha

PS. Rumor has it that a web shop is in the works, stay tuned...

Wedding Weekend!

While you are reading this, my husband & I have traveled to Canada.
We have been invited to attend a wedding of a dear friend of my husband.

I am very much looking forward to the trip, as it also includes a little family time and catching up with a dear friend of mine, who now lives in Canada as well!

As it turns out, this is the second wedding post within a week... & while I have no clue as to the decor of the wedding we are attending, I found these rustic and super pretty table top images to share with you.

PS. I am a big fan of birch trees, so the fact that these logs have made it to the table in such a classy way, well that just made me happy to see!!

Have a festive weekend!

From Me To You... A beautiful Wedding story!

Are you familiar with photographer Jamie Beck? I am sure you have seen her beautiful photography, be it Fashion or Travel, they are always amazing in detail and she has a wonderful eye for composition. Jamie has been sharing her images on her blog From Me To You since 2009, and I believe I have been following along ever since, I was hooked!! So when she disappeared for the summer, something had to be up... She got married (!!) to her creative partner, Kevin, and also managed to put together a brand new website Ann Street Studio. It is here I have found these images, head on over there for all the beautiful Black & White images as well. All images by Kate Murphy.

The dress was designed by Katie Ermilio, and made with the most delicate french lace!
The gown was "something new"...

Such soft and romantic blush colors. Delicate bracelet by De Beers Swan Lake was "something borrowed," and the engagement ring - a vintage 1930 ring - was "something old."

The reception was held at The Carlyle Hotel, and the table top decoration were inspired by these fabulous plates. The colors were a bit warmer, looking amazing in candlelight... notice the fruit spilling over onto the tablecloth. Beautiful!

Nothing more elegant than tall tapers!

Congratulations to Jamie & Kevin!
Thank you for sharing this very private moment with all of us in the blog world!
