The Boathouse, Part II

Did you have a chance to look through this post? Yesterday I showed you images from a new favorite place of mine - that I have only visited via "virtual reality" - and by the looks of these images, I might not even make it past the front doors!  

Not only is The Boathouse a Cafe and Eatery, but also a market, complete with fresh market flowers and baked goods. 

My absolute favorite image from The Boathouse!! After looking through all their photography, I noticed that this farmhouse table and its fresh cut flowers change with the seasons. Could you imagine working in a place like this? How could you ever be in a bad mood....? Really digging the many vessels they use to display their flowers in, presentation is everything!! 

Again... Look for beauty in the everyday. OK, so not all of us have a Champagne box laying around to prop up our orchids, but you get what I mean, right?? And how sculptural are all those bananas?

The Meaning of Home

I just pre-ordered the new book, by Million Dollar Decorator, Jeffrey Alan Marks and I can hardly wait to have it in my hands!! The Meaning of Home is due out in a few days...

While we all await the arrival, I will share a few images the home JAM shares with his partner Ross Cassidy, via Domaine Home (LOVE that site, by the way!).

In the interview Domaine Home did with the two designers, one comment that struck me as funny, but spot on (perhaps because it would be something I would do...?) was Ross mentioning that...

 “Jeffrey likes to stack books for color, not content,” Ross Cassidy tells us of his fiancé. Cassidy teases: “Okay, you just happen to be reading four perfectly sea foam green and celadon books.”

Yes....? That could happen :) It happens in my house all the time!!! (revisit the first image)

What attracts me to their home are all the soothing colors; the sage greens, the lavender , the blues, the greys and all the natural textures! CAN NOT WAIT to study the book !!

Ghosts?

Yes, Ghost pumpkins! I know this post might be a little late in your eyes, but hang in there with me, please! While the good, old, traditional orange variety is what you typically see all around, it's also what I soooo long to replace with this variety!

It could be (ok, I admit this IS the reason) that I go for the visual, the colors and the overall calm feeling that can be created with these beauties... I just love the dusty colors and could probably decorate my entire house in these colors, and be very happy :)

... and we all know where these amazing cut out versions come from, right? 

I wish I had the patience to do this, but for now I will stick to all these images. 

Do you have a preference?? Traditional orange or the white ghost pumpkins? 

This year I also saw a lot of painted pumpkins, did you paint yours?

Color Inspirations!

I am currently working on a design project, that I absolutely love & I am happy with the progress...  However, the project is a little slow coming together, but I find that it is allowing me to layer in the art and accessories, and I am enjoying that part. 

My entire color pallet can be found in these images... I am looking forward to a completed project so that I can photograph it, and possibly share with all of you!

Wedding Weekend!

While you are reading this, my husband & I have traveled to Canada.
We have been invited to attend a wedding of a dear friend of my husband.

I am very much looking forward to the trip, as it also includes a little family time and catching up with a dear friend of mine, who now lives in Canada as well!

As it turns out, this is the second wedding post within a week... & while I have no clue as to the decor of the wedding we are attending, I found these rustic and super pretty table top images to share with you.

PS. I am a big fan of birch trees, so the fact that these logs have made it to the table in such a classy way, well that just made me happy to see!!

Ocean view!

A little while back I found the most amazing ocean photo on Etsy.
I sent the dealer a message on her blog, but I haven't heard back. I have just spent time going through 87 pages of ocean photography on Etsy (and there were many more) in the hopes that I would find the image again, but no luck...

What I did find, were so many beautiful images, it makes it hard to choose just one!

Caught...

... little hands in the Cookie Jar!

I just found Graham & Green, via Tracy, and I just love the color of this Portobello Cabinet!
... and really, you can't go wrong with the white Tolix chair either!!

Cute, no?

The cabinet also comes in a pink and girly version, and looks great on the wall! I see a million ways to style this cabinet, depending on it's placement; kitchen, bath, living room perhaps even on a covered porch.

Which is your favorite version?? I am definitely liking the Sea Green!
... By the way; either cabinet would make a beautiful addition to the house in the post below, don't you think? Not that it's not great the way it is.... I'm just saying... :)

Kitchen Confindetial

I totally adore this kitchen!

The subway tiles in their soothing colors are fantastic and obviously set the tone for the rest of the design, selections of finishes etc. I can only guess that they are handmade, hence the different shades in the glaze.

This weekend I am actually working with two clients, selecting counter top materials for their kitchens. One will be Absolute Black Granite - and nothing like this - we are just selecting sink, faucets and hardware.

The other client.... I'm not sure yet, perhaps a marble, time will tell.
Sometimes it's hard to commit to a counter :)

Both kitchens are much smaller than this, no room for an island in either, but that's all right.

What kind of counter surface do you have in your kitchen?? Do you have an island? Does the island have the same material on top as your other counters?  I have a very small kitchen, no room for an island. My counters are black granite, very shiny and totally cool!! LOVE them!
... even if their are kitty paw prints on them constantly :)

Vintage posters.

Sunday morning I visited a friends house, I had not been there in a little while...
I spotted a vintage poster on her wall. No frame, no fuss, just up on the wall!
I was so taken with the simplicity, and so inspired to find "my own" that I went on a little Internet search! Of course there are thousands, it's hard to pick one, and truthfully... I don't really have the wall space... BUT, I did find a few contestants, just in case :)

The vintage Miss Dior is my favorite! LOVE the color, the dress, the flowers... EVERYTHING!
This poster I would make room for!!

Spotted this poster at BASALT Indretning, a vintage furniture store in Copenhagen, owned by Anne Fabricius-Bjerre. She wrote the book (Hjem efter mit hjerte) that I used in my first give-away here. Great pop of color, don't you think??

And then there is this bright blue and yellow one.... How fun!
I see this one in a modern home, perhaps even in a child's room!

Itsy, bitsy...

... something about a polka dot bikini.... :) (Only this is a chair dressed in polka dots)

I have had this image in my files for a little while, not entirely sure where it came from, Canadian House & Home, perhaps?
I think it is a great "follow up" to my last post, as I kinda see them in a similar light.

It is a good example of how to combine new with old, different styles, different patterns and making it all work with a confined color pallet. This little nook is so bright and cheerful, but really, there is not much to it if you look closely!! A bench, a chair, a table, a light fixture and a mirror... OK, so there is probably a fantastic view just beyond, and the natural light is also pretty great :)

Happy Easter!

Sharing a cup of tea with all of you, hoping for a peaceful day!

Wrapping this little bowl in fuzzy yarn to create a little nest, is such a cute idea! While looking at this image, I was trying to figure out how the yarn would stay put....
I came up with two answers: Either you use a few double sided tape pieces, so there is something "to stick to", OR you spray the outside of the bowl with adhesive. Might be a little, well, sticky!!
What is your take?

...OK, so they are beautiful, but who really have the time for this?? ... I'm just asking?

SOOOO pretty!! The colors are just perfect.... I can see a whole house decorated in these colors already. Just look to nature for color inspiration, it's all there!

I know, I know, I should have an image of the bright red eggs of Greece, but was unable to come up with a pretty image... Sorry.  + red didn't really go with this post anyhow!

I spy...

... a beautiful dusty green!
How soothing is this pretty bedroom, not to mention the beautiful view just outside the open door!

I really like the pretty dusty green of the headboard against the soft gray walls! Notice the pattern in the quilt has the same sage color. Makes you wonder what came first, the bed spread or the painted headboard?? Hmmm....

Well, I think the answer is the fabric came first, and then the paint was mixed (now that you see the color in the kitchen as well), am I right?? Then again, they could just have been lucky with the fabric....
Isn't this a wonderful country kitchen? Love the color of the bench, not a fan of Spanish tile, never was, but they work in this house, grounding the space. Considering this is probably a vacation home, they are super easy to clean, so why not....

Did you notice the tiny little touch of pink in the chandelier?
