Hide & Seek

Inspiration hits at any time… Sometimes you look and you look, but nothing catches your eye, and then other times… it's right there in front of you, when you least expect it! My point is this… I was at the furniture upholster shop last week, for a client, and I walked in to a table stacked high with green-ish / teal-y colored buffalo hides. What in the world would you do with that color hide I asked, don't exactly remember the answer… sorry… but ever since I have been looking at skins and fur, not with anything particular in mind, but one never knows what might arise!

Sooooo, naturally I was instantly smitten by the Pop Up Shop by Yvonne Kone in Copenhagen and all her beautiful leather goods! I follow along from a far - via her blog & website - as I am in Florida, but she's on my short list for when I go back home to visit next!!!

THIS Shopping Bag is what I have my eye on!
Comes in a few different hides and colors, but I am drawn to this non-color, very neutral.

Chic, right??

While I was hunting down the Shopping Bag on her website, I came across these Key Holders. Either color would work for me, but if I could ask for one, it would be the Glitter Sky (Silver) or the Snake Silver (last on the right).

I am finding, that now I am dealing with the added pressure of remembering my keys, the stroller, the diaper bag, my phone… and, omg where did I put the keys?? First outing with baby Lilly I actually walked out of the house with my handbag, but without her diaper bag…! Yep, that's right, rookie mistake!! :) Now I am wiser, BUT… the day will come when I leave the keys where they are not to be found again!

Setting the table...

Almost there people... Now is the time to start thinking about how you will set the table :) I say shimmer and soft green will do it for me!
I just adore this pretty little place card holder, thinking it will make the table a little more formal...

Enjoy planning the table decor!! Cheers :)

Silvery shimmer

Mixing up all your candleholders in silver just makes everything sparkle, and when picking foliage with that same "silver" color, it just looks so pretty, don't you think??

Adding a mirror doubles the shimmer :)
I particularly like the large silver punch bowl, so festive!!

... if you only have a small space to decorate - like me - use trays!! Not only do trays keep clutter at bay, but styling up a tray is so quick and easy :) Have fun with colors or keep it simple like here... notice non of the containers match, but that's what makes it so interesting and sweet!!

I am all for hanging ornaments this way... group together a few different ones, I like to keep the tone the same, attach a beautiful ribbon and hang them at different lengths, et voila, instant Christmas sparkle. You can do this with all kinds of bulbs, whatever your color preference. Use all the "left over" pieces you didn't have room for on the tree. Or if there is no tree, this is a great way to bring out the decorations, easy to do and easy to hang almost anywhere!!

Have fun decorating!

December is here...

... and I am planning to keep it simple!

So much over the top decorating going on out there... longing for simplicity.

What will be your style this Christmas? White, Silver, Gold, Red, Green...?
Hope you have a moment to leave a comment. Happy decorating!!

Heavy Metal!

Interesting shapes and textures in these three images, all tied together by their origin - Morocco - and by color - silver & black. I found them over on the brand new Lonny website, their new image library is even better now :) Check it out!

Grey with Envy!

Having a grey moment!
Be it silver, platinum or white gold.... I am finding these stackable rings to be just beautiful!!

... and keeping it all natural, makes this ring so interesting! The mother of pearl, the silver beads and the quartz (?) stones in their raw state, super cool ring!!

Do you have a favorite?
Do you stack your rings or keep them single? Silver or gold?

A Christmas Story!

Hi all...
Please follow me to Sweden!
I am guest posting for Charlotta of Space For Inspiration today.

The series has been named "Talk to me about Christmas", and it has been a trip down memory lane, getting this post together.

I hope you have a few minutes to read through this post, can't wait to hear what you have to say???! ... also a little scared, but then again, this is my first guest post, and I might have given a little too much personal info... Oh, well, Christmas is all about sharing, right?

Enjoy!

Why not an Acorn?

Not only do I think the muted colors are to die for, but the patina'ed finish is equally as great, don't you think?

Pile 'em high!!

Setting the table.

...continuing where I left off yesterday, here is a pretty table setting incorporating hydrangeas and Christmas ornaments :) I wish I could find an image of the mantle as well, looks icy and pretty from afar!

Picture Perfect!

This art wall remind me of an art wall in the Flag Ship Store of Malene Birger in Copenhagen. She also uses this type of revolving art display in her home, as seen here in a previous Northern Light Blog post.

I am liking the shiny, cool Sputnik light fixture paired with the warmth of the dark wood table!

Do you prefer art walls on ledges, like here, or the art work actually hung on the wall in a collage?

Details

Something so sweet and girl-y about these two images... Almost like a secret look into private quarters!

Love the silvery textures and colors in the first image, and the golden brassy feel of the second image!

When you are not wearing your jewelery, do you display it? Do you hide it, or do you simply have so much that you have a designated drawer for your accessories??

Do you have a favorite image?? While I am more of a silvery, white gold, platinum kind of girl, I tend to like the golden image better.... hmmmm.... probably the teal that's drawing me in.

Seventh Holiday Post

... now you know why it's so hard for guests to not hang out in the kitchen.... would you want to go anywhere else, if you could stand here?? Yummy!!
The simple black birdcage is re-purposed as a "candle holder", and along with the natural branches, the butcher block island, the natural theme is well thought out!

Notice how the natural theme is carried through to the dining table; not only the branches and the antler candle holder, but also the fact that the table is left "bare"!

Here a little tray is filled with antlers, candles and Christmas balls in different sizes and finishes.

Have a cozy weekend!

Just a pretty picture!

...The dinner party was a success!

I was the happy recipient of two beautiful Christmas tree ornaments, hand painted in white and silver, with a little glitter.... SO, so pretty!!

Fourth Holiday Post.

Having bombarded you with vivid color all week, I am going pale and silvery on you for the weekend! Also, notice the keyhole......

This is what I am planning to do over the weekend...
We are not doing a tree, so I will be finding other creative ways to display the Christmas stuff!

Just LOVE how this wreath has a little silvery sparkle, the graduated balls and the silvery leaves woven in to the wreath... Beautiful!

Have a wonderful weekend!!
