Fall Cravings...

So... have you experienced that when - for what ever reason - you are not "supposed" to be buying clothes (or shoes, or whatever) you find exactly what you want?? In my particular case, there is just no reason to go shopping at the moment, as I have no idea how "we" are dealing with the after-baby-body... but a girl can dream, right? Oh, and did I mention that I love cold weather clothes - well, to a certain extend - as long as the weather sticks to the 60's! Thant being said, I would rather buy a beautiful sweater, than a bathing suit, and this is coming from someone who lives in Florida....  Go figure! Today I received the new J.Crew Style Guide Catalog, and it had me on their website in a minute. These are my picks... most of them from their Discovered pages.

This mens bag would make a stylish diaper bag for Mr. Wonderful, don't you think??

I know, I am wayyyyyy ahead of the game, but these two kids sweaters are just so great, I had to include them!

Love the color of this Je t'aime sweater, LOVE!!

Happy shopping to all of you, I will join you next fall.... :)

Fall-ing in Love...

It's been a long while since I visited the wonderful site of Inslee, or her blog for that matter... I have posted on Inslee's work a few times, and I am still loving her work!  I was not looking for anything particularly, but came across this pretty fall-y image via the blog, and just felt it was perfect for this Monday Morning.

I am thinking I might pick up these cards for Christmas... I know, it's a little early to start thinking about Christmas, but considering Saturdays post / announcement, I am trying to get organized well ahead of time!!

Fall-ing in Love!!

I always appreciate a good little vignette, and when it is geared towards the season, even better. As you can see above, it really doesn't take much. Here it's the burnt orange in the foliage and in the glaze of the Waylande Gregory ceramics that tie the story together, but really, this could just as easily have been done with a coffee table book and a candle :)
Even just changing the artwork up a little will make the story come together.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

PS. In case you are wondering about the lamp, it is from Oly.

First Glimpse of Fall.

So, as the calendar inches closer to darker fall days and cooler temperatures (I hope), we all start to look at our interiors, cozying up and making pretty! All of a sudden those pretty yellow roses look too springy and we tend to go for darker colors...

There are easy ways for you to change your decor from light and airy to cozy and warm...
Use what you have, move furniture around, ad a rug, change the covers on your pillows, add a mohair throw for warmth and texture. Look in your cabinets, I am sure you have a few accessories tucked away, re-evaluate & re-purpose! Instead of flowers, fill a tall glass cylinder with sculptural branches...
My go-to; Lot's of candlelight, absolutely love a flickering candle!!

Books... you can do so much with a coffee table book, it can help set the mood and color scheme for an entire room. How about stacking books with brown leather backs on a nightstand, ad a beautiful candle or a small box on top... it's really that easy! Style up your everyday life, it will make you happy to see beauty when you go to bed, and first thing in the morning :)

Happy decorating!

Sunday Flowers

I was contemplating if I should show you the bright and beautiful flowers from last weeks wedding, or go with this beautiful book; Bringing Nature Home. I found the book more appropriate for the first days of fall, and after you see these amazing images, you will probably agree with me...

The beautiful arrangements are all done by Nicolette Owen & the equally talented photographer Ngoc Minh Ngo is behind the images. Since the books release in March (how did I totally miss that??), many bloggers have reviewed the book, so I will just show a few images this Sunday.

I love how loosely these arrangements are done up, a far cry from the many tight bound floral arrangements we have seen the last many years...

For as long as I can remember my mother has done arrangements just like these, flowers mixed with vines, branches & grasses. All very "English Garden"... What do you think? Is this the new way to go? Or has it really always been the way??

Have a fun Sunday!

Fall Splendor!

These two images have been shot by Anna Malin of Helt Enkelt. I am so inspired by the sharp contrast of color, the all natural elements in the images and the simple aesthetics...

Time and time again I am reminded, we need only look to nature for incredible color, pattern and texture! The delicate, yet vibrant fall branch is so beautifully captured by Anna! Super color combo, don't you think? I like how the yellow has been picked up in the pillow in the background, as well as the black of the table top, in the iron candle holder on the floor...

Enjoy the last days of fall, winter will be here before we know it!

{Fall} House Love

Last year I featured this Summer House in a Winter Holiday post, complete with a thick blanket of snow and a Christmas Tree. This time around I will share different images, more appropriate to fall!
(OK, so I know enough about flowers and blooming bushes to know that the above image was taken in the spring - as the rhododendron blooms in the springtime - BUT the colors in the interior of this house (below) lends itself well to fall, don't you think?)

Warm and cozy colors mingle with candlelight and a beautiful book! I purchased this book (Rajasthan) and it's completely worth a long afternoon, curled up with a blanket!!!

Weather use for sleeping or simply for a cozy and relaxing spot, this nook is soooo inviting!
Imagine cool weather, the stack of glossy magazines, nowhere to be, and lot and lots of tea lights!! I am in LOVE with the skinny picture ledge, filled with all these different, muted colors of glass and candles... surely they look magical in the evening!!

The warmth of the wood in the kitchen is echoed throughout in other textures such as the pillows in the background... Notice the matte black paint on the walls, the door and the huge light fixture. Lots of glossy surfaces as well throughout this house, helps to bounce the light around! This might be a log cabin painted black, but it is not a black hole, or a cave, but a light filled Scandinavian Summerhouse, dressed for fall with lots of texture and wonderful fabrics!

Look at that amazing piece of artwork on the wall!! Entirely made up from butterflies... and I love how the over sized urns are perfect in scale!

Peaceful exteriors as well! ;)
It is very common in Scandinavia to paint woodwork black, and I really like how it plays off of the naturally weathered decking...

Wonderful terrace to enjoy the last days of summer, and with the outdoor fireplace, why not stay outside just a little longer? I am happy to see this house clad in fall colors, hope you enjoyed it as well!!

Red Fall Leaves

I am back in Florida... and I had a little time to search for this A.MA.ZING image! Just as I was leaving Scandinavia to head back, the leaves started to change their colors. We don't see that here, and that is something I miss... the true change of seasons!

Hope you have a wonderful early fall weekend, where ever you are! Any plans??
(or spring if you are in the southern hemisphere..)

It's the Weekend...

Any plans this weekend?
Perhaps a little fall decorating; inside and out?

Nothing better than a fresh fall apple, right from the tree :)
Have a wonderful fall weekend!

It's the Weekend...

Look what I found....
A fantastic collection of the ever popular SAMER bracelets. All the bracelets have handcut reindeer antler buttons as clousures, and come in many different sizes....

Other parts of the BeChristensen collection include handcut coral Skull charms. Personally, the skull thing is not for me....  These bracelets have 18k gold beads, and some are made with leather.

I know, I know... one thing has nothing to do with the other...         or do they? My thought was that not only do the colors work, but so does the materials! The leather, the stone, the circles (beads), the gold, the black, the wood.... What do you think?

Have a great weekend!
I will be back with more cool stuff from Denmark later!!

A new Day...

Evoking the feeling of fall...
The other day I visited the brand new Day Home store in Aarhus, and was able to see and touch some of these beautiful pillows! The colors are so pretty, and with fall just around the cornor, I could have been tempted to buy one of each!! But, both my mother and I fell in love with a pretty little black box, ingraved with a delicate design, and kept closed with a little piece of horn.... We did not buy it, but one never knows what might happen before I leave :)

Continuing with the fall theme, this bedroom has been dressed in fall colors, ever so slightly...
Notice the pretty moss green velvet pillows on the bed, as well as the bench at the end of the bed, upholstred in the same velvet.

Have a cozy evening!
