Designer at home.

First of all... let's just establish the fact that I am incredibly nosy when it comes to the way designers live at home, I just have to see! However, I am not so sure I would be equally as excited if someone was to look into my own digs.... :) That would just be intimidating!!

Well, I came across these images of tableware designer Peri Wolfman and her husband, still life photographer, Charles Gold's home in Southampton. Peri has just finished designing the brand new tableware collection for RH. Classic design, beautifully finished, cool colors (besides the all white she is known for). Sneak a peek here.

Nothing like open shelves to force you to be organized, it just does not work if you are not into the art of beautiful displays, even when it comes to every day objects!!

Besides the interesting light fixture above the island, I am all for maximizing storage, and by doubling up the cabinets below, there is a place for everything, and everything in it's place...

When your home looks like this, downsizing does not feel so bad, right?? Both the camel back sofa and the wingback chairs can be found at RH.

Flea market finds mingle well! When color and texture is considered, this vintage miniature church becomes a sculpture.

... you just know you are in a home of a very meticulous person, when even the matches are artfully displayed :)

In the all white guest bath, the straight lines are broken by the round iron mirror. The pale braided rope makes for a casual vibe and lends great texture. PS. I love this Kohler pedestal sink, it happens to be in my guest bath as well, can't go wrong with the clean lines!!

A slightly different look in the master bedroom... cool grey, reflective finishes, silk taffeta drapes, along with a cozy corner.

Keeping everyday objects on display, makes for easy access, and function becomes more than just that... here twine, rope and yarn fills a beautiful clean lined bowl.

Hope you enjoyed this peak into Tableware designer Peri Wolfman's new home.
She very much lives with the clean lines she designs, the natural tones she applies to the Dinnerware and has a wonderful eye for texture, selecting beautiful materials for the RH flatware collection!

(Scandinavain) Summer House Love!

Hi! I am still here, in case you were wondering, and want to share a typical Scandinavian Summer House with you this holiday weekend... Enjoy!

This summer home is located on the Northern tip of Jutland, Denmark, in a small town called Skagen. My husband and I visited two summers back, and would have loved to spend more time there...

While the typical old homes in Skagen are all painted the same yellow, with red tile roofs and white trim (trademark look), it's also very much about all white interiors and exteriors... Even the outdoor furniture is white, and it looks so great don't you think?? Skagen in the summer months is all about outdoor living.

Nothing like white walls, white woodwork and white floors, I just LOVE the look!!

Come a little closer, and you will find lots of texture, but simple furnishings.

Driftwood found on the wide beaches, rope and open doors all scream Summer House... Wishing I was there :)

A view from the living room to the dining and kitchen area. White Tolix chairs are one of my favorites!

All white kitchen with wonderful grey brickwork, to add a little texture and dimension to the space. Notice the place mats of river stones, helping to underscore the natural elements, and a beautiful touch to the warm wood table.

It really does not get anymore Danish than this...
Out door living at its best; sun, summer, flowers, Mega Mussel, Skagen and beach rocks on the table!

Happy Summer!!

Catching up!

So while I am playing catch-up; Sending out long overdue emails, looking at floor plans, reviewing recently photographed product shots for a local Design Shop, I did steal a moment - while having a bite for lunch - to look at what is going on over on Pinterest. I came across this photo, that I pinned a few weeks back... reminds me of a similar - but much bigger - version in my parents home, of the house they live in, I believe it dates back to 1918. Cool way to preserve the history of a home, especially when they are hand drawn! Now all the plans are done by CAD, as I am sure you are aware...

TGIF!

(Australian) House Love!

Quite a while back I saved the image above to my files...

I pretty much love everything about the photo; the interior, the textures, the layering and the overall composition!! I didn't at the time make a note of who, what, when and where, just too busy starring :)

Then the other day I came across this image, and something stopped me in my tracks...
I had seen similar before, but where? Ah ha, the pieces finally came together in this interior shoot. I am really liking the textures, the composition of the rooms and all the natural materials used, what do you think?

Are you in like as well?? Do you love all the different elements and layers? Both inside and out...

The muted washed out colors are great, very soft, but I am digging the brown in the master bath as well. I imagine a bubble bath by candlelight watching all the mosaic tiles shimmer...

... and then it happened again, I forgot to take down the source... I know, I am sorry!
If you know who the designer / photographer is, please let me know, I will ad to the post immediately!! I believe the home is from Australia.

Have a peaceful weekend,
Natasha

Amazing Quiet Space

This beautiful home in the Hollywood Hills is designed by Kathleen Clements (of Sister Agnes fame) and I am totally smitten! Besides from the fantastic white and light space and the cool color pallet, I am adoring the layers and layers of texture!

It's all in the detail!! ... and glossy white floors, that bounce the light around :)

Just beautiful, loving the soft color pallet, very restraint and full of wonderful fabrics.... the rug is also designed by Kathleen, it's from her 2009 rug line called Gypsy Maturin, launched together with her son and business partner, Tommy.

So simple and beautiful! I LOVE the simplicity of the wood bench, great natural element!
Oh, and the bedspread.... the fabric is amazing!

This is how to make an old farmhouse table stand out, so to really appreciate it's timeworn beauty.
Did you notice the glossy white floor? It's throughout the home... Also, all the exposed wood beams have this high gloss / lacquer treatment. I think is't such a clever way to highlight a design feature!!

This hallway totally qualifies for my Hall of Fame Pinterest board :)

... just darling!

Trust me, you totally want to check out the Kathleen Clements Design website, her portfolio is
A.MA.ZING!!!!!!  One project that is missing though, is the home of Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi (featured in Architectural Digest, November 2011), but you can find that home under the Press tab. Apparently Ellen loved the house and the interior design so much they bought it totally furnished! I only wish I could have a tour...

Have a wonderful weekend!

Too Pretty...

... too pretty not to re-blog!!
This home was first discovered here, and subsequently here & here and I am still drooling!!

This house is in Sweden, just outside Stockholm and just 150 m2 with three rooms, designed by architect Karl-Johan Palmstam. Huge windows throughout allow for the beautiful daylight to stream in, and with the typical Scandinavian white interior this summer home is now a favorite of mine... Too bad it has already sold ;)

Loving the white, with all the punches of black, and tons of natural texture.
Logs for the fireplace (trust me, it can get chilly at night!), wool throw to curl up with, lots of plants, iron and wood.

The property also has a small 23 m2 "green house", that has been set up for relaxing and entertaining!
I can just imagine sitting around that wonderful farmhouse table with lots of friends and family, under the stars... during the summer it really does not get that dark, typically the sun sets at 11pm and rises super early, depending on how far north in Scandinavia you are located.

Great outside space, lots of places to relax and enjoy being outdoors. Summers are mostly spent outside - weather permitting - and doors and windows are always open!

Hope you enjoyed this little house tour. There are many more images from this house, so check out the last link above for the full scope! Here is the floor plan. Do you have a favorite part of this home? Besides the fact that I LOVE the whole house, I think my favorite parts are the tall wood cabinet in the kitchen & all the natural light! Also... the repeat of the glass cloches throughout the home, glass and wire alike.

Natasha

PS.
In case you were wondering... It is very typical in Scandinavia to have black painted summerhouses with white interiors... Just not all of them are this fantastic :)
