This image stopped me in my tracks today, so beautiful!
Loving the colors, the shapes, the texture, the glaze of the bowl …

Color Study...

Today's post is a small collection of images in bright lime green... Flowers and a single Lime. The images caught my eye, and remind me that spring is just around the corner! I like the natural progression of the lime green, mixed with grey for contrast... interesting little color study.

TGIF!

Sunday Reading...

So, granted... I have been sitting on this post for a little while... well, actually truth be told; It's been a super busy holiday season, and I just have not had the time to actually read anything, but I did browse through this FAB e-book at the end of December. Only this weekend did I sit down and actually study the beautiful images and read about all the cool Danish homes...

If you were the lucky recipient of a new iPad this Christmas, this is the perfect e-book! Chock full of inspiring Scandinavian decor, photographed to perfection, you want to reach out and touch every detail... LOL!

While there is much to look at, three homes stood out to me. The many layers of texture in this all white interior home, I can only dream about!

Design classics are mixed with tribal feathers, fresh flowers and hide accessories. Travel trinkets from far away lands mixed in for interest, and personal art... does not get much better than this, love how personal this home is!!

... and a fresh pop of yellow and turquoise in the bathroom, mixing an old "weathered" Asian chest with sleek glass and stainless steel shower fixture, so cool! Exotic Harmony for sure.

This predominately black & white home is equally amazing, a home with much more "structure" but also full with personal style, travel moments and gigantic hunting trophies...

I am really liking the blond wood floors, reminds me of the apartment I lived in, in Copenhagen, and the restrained color pallet is so Scandinavian! Lots of art and beautifully designed electronics by B&O mix and mingle with Marcel Wanders dining chairs and table.

And the last spotlight is on Tine K, of Tine K Home. Tine & I "go way back" as I remember visiting her very first retail shop, north of Copenhagen, many, many years ago... What was then a small shop that enjoyed great publicity in the Danish design magazines, has now evolved to a huge - to the trade - accessory company, with showrooms around Europe, Facebook pages for different showrooms (Holland, Germany, Finland etc) along with Pinterest boards and a well oiled marketing department. One quick look around all the Scandinavian blogs, and may feature Tine K Home products...
Fun fact: The Tine K Home team follow the Northern Light Blog on Pinterest, shouldn't you?

I am sure some of you have seen this living room before, but I am still in love with the light, the white, the textures and the all around cozy, lived-in, feeling of Tine's home. To me, proof that a white home does not necessarily equal stark and cold...

Lots and lots of texture in this little image... patina, peeling paint, wood, ceramic, woven straw, glass, books and a few branches from the garden. LOVE it :)

A wonderful light filled bathroom, complete with exotic shells and star fish. If you have the room, why not make this room in your home more inviting?

This kitchen is huge and totally open to the living room and dining room, again... great textures ranging from the leather handles on the cabinets (Tine K Design), to the light fixture (Shade by Tine K Home, comes in different sizes and fabrics) etc, etc, etc... This girl "lives what she preaches"; clean lines, lots of white and many non-Danish accessories and accents. Tine Kjeldsen certainly has a wonderful eye for bringing the interesting everyday objects from the far east and mixing them in with the typical Scandinavian strict design and muted colors, warming up the feel and creating wonderful contrast and interest...

While there are homes and images you might recognize in this GEN.TWO New Style Generation book, there are plenty (!) of new images to drool over & great stories from the homeowners.

I say go for it! Download your copy here, but hurry.... GEN.THREE is already in the works :)
Happy reading!! Also, Style Generation has it's own FB page and website.

Sunday Flowers

Make it easy and unfussy on the weekends. Keep the color pallet simple and fresh, make it work for your home, and don't fuss too much :) These pretty white flowers comes to you from the new Tine K Home showroom in Holland, and I am really liking how they have just been casually arranged....

Cool fact of the day...

OK, so perhaps I am totally overdoing this, and that is a risk I am willing to take BUT the cool fact of the day (well, yesterday actually) was, that I discovered that non other than "the people" over at Tine K Home are now following the Northern Light Blog on Pinterest!!! Yep, that's right!

For those of you unfamiliar with Tine K Home, she is a young Danish female entrepreneur, who has made it BIG in Home Decor & Accessories. I have featured her fabulous home here on the blog, and her wears often pop up in homes across Scandinavia. It's almost fair to say Tine K Home has a cult like following, she can do no wrong & her eye for detail is impeccable!!

SO, when I spotted her logo in the Activity line on my Pinterest last night, I was a little starstruck.
To be able to possibly inspire someone (anyone on her team, actually) at TKH Headquarters is quite flattering, I think! ... and yes, I am aware that I can "fall out of grace" with a single keystroke, or that a simple "unfollow" will burst my bubble, so for now I will just BE HAPPY :)

Come on over here to see what all the fuss is about, follow along if you like.

Happy May!

So cheerful, don't you think?

I was all over town today, lots of research under my belt... & even managed to squeeze in a lovely cup of coffee with a dear friend. A dreaded dentist appointment started the day, but everything went well (if you must know, I am a big chicken in the dentist chair :/   )

I did a great deal of shopping... well, for clients actually! I found a LOT of great stuff, can't wait to share!
Hope you have a wonderful start to May!

Pretty little things...

Considering the beauty of candlelight, I am one to to have tea lights sprinkled all over the house...
I love the soft glow in the late afternoon, and the warmth of the flame against the darkness in the early evening.

But what about candlelight in the daytime??  Look how pretty and soft this image is...
Those faceted glass votives are from Tine K. While in Denmark this past fall, I thought about picking up a few, couldn't decide on a color and now I am regretting - a little bit - not having decided on a hue!!

Oh well, such is life :)

New Blog Love

This is not just a new-to-me-blog, this is one of those BRAND NEW blogs, that I already expect SO MUCH from it's scary :)

The Danish super brand Tine K Home, has redone their website and added a blog! YEAH!!
This will let us get a sneak peak behind the scenes, and I for one will be checking back often as I just LOVE most things TKH!!!!!! (I am even lucky enough to have a few of her things, fortunately they have made the trip across the Atlantic in one piece.)

Products from the new season; leather keyring (I must have one of these), small decorative handmade jars and tagines....

That tray... I can just imagine how "soft" that dark phantom glaze is! L.O.V.E.!

While the novelty of these Chinese brushes have worn off a little, I still think they make for a wonderful textural element. All grouped together like this, they look fantastic, I want to pick one up and feel the bristles, especially the white one....

In 2010 I featured the home of Tine K, you can re-visit here. Her home is so perfectly done, kept to a very strict color scheme. I like that she is so true to the Nordic taste and her home reflect what she "preaches", but then again, she IS the trend setter of home decor in Scandinavia!

Mixing the cool vibe of the north with tons of exotic texture and making it all work so interestingly. Excited to see what she will feature next in her decor line, as well as on her blog! Stay tuned :)

New Blog Love

... Meet Anna-Malin of Helt Enkelt Hos Mig! This blog is quintessential Nordic design, Nordic living and the photography is DIVINE!

Anna-Malin shares her home with us, one of my favorite spots is in her kitchen where she collects cups and bowls. I TOTALLY get this obsession with the Tine K products, they are just the coolest!!

Front Page News

Danish designer and business women, Tine K. made the March 2010 cover with her light filled home.

This is the private residence of Tine K, she and her husband (also her business partner in Tine K Home) lives here along with their children.

While I am a big fan of white painted floors, I must say these shiny dark brown - almost black -
floors are FANTASTIC!!!

A few years back, when visiting Denmark, I picked up one of these silver trays, only in a smaller version, since it had to fit in my suitcase. I have been longing for the large one, and a friend of mine found one for my birthday last year, YEAH! (tx amd)

Texture is what makes this image work for me; the silver tray, the wood shakers, the ceramic containers holding the Asian utensils. Look how beautiful the hole pattern is....
On that same trip back I also picked up six of these soft lavender and white bowls, fortunately they all arrived in one piece!!

What a pretty way to keep everyday items displayed; functional yet beautiful.

Upstairs the floors have been painted white, and a mirror displayed to catch the light.

Great natural light in the bedroom, I could easily sit there writing this blog....

The birdcage has been featured in product shots for the Tine K Home collection, and I guess she couldn't give it up..... never has a feather duster looked so cool!

If you would like to read more, use this link, or perhaps pick up this months Elle Decoration.
