I spy...

... Daybeds!!
Done up as wonderful and inviting spaces to spend an afternoon reading, sleeping or just hanging out chatting with a friend! Isn't this a beautiful version? So girly and pretty with the floral fabric, the hot pink and the ticking.. I think the black lamp shades really ground the space; had they been white, it would have had much lighter look, Scandinavian almost, this makes the look more French... to me anyway :)

...and this daybed with all it's pillows and fantastic Funny Girl poster, makes for a great hangout space for a young girl! How about that rug...

In a guestroom the daybed is the perfect solution... Here a touch of pink, in a sea of white, and lots of international touches.... Imagine that Moroccan light fixture light at night, the wonderful pattern on the walls!!

When space is at a premium a daybed can be just what you are looking for, as it can double as a sofa :)

... and a dark version, very dramatic and super chic!!

Happy daydreaming :)

I spy...

Lately my eyes have been drawn to these huge, over sized sea grass baskets. They seem to be popping up everywhere, storing everything from magazines and books to blankets. They provide a wonderful element of texture in an otherwise formal room, as above.

Here, filled with logs, it provides stylish storage for firewood, in a master bedroom. The texture and color of the woven sea grass, keeps the eye traveling to the other few warm colors and textures (mirror, woven leather bench, frame of the painting) in the otherwise cool color pallet.

In this foyer, wonderful throws are displayed. I like the cool colors mixed with the braided sea grass.

If I have now convinced you that you need one of these baskets, this is a selection of very well priced options, that are ready to ship asap.

... and then there is this little guy. A little darker, a little more rigid in its lines, but still a wonderful way to introduce texture. This basket would do well next to an entrance, perhaps to store all that extra mail you want to throw out right away, and that you are planning to dump in the recycling bin.... :)

LOVE the green, distressed chest as well!

I spy...

I have not done an "I spy..." post in a while so here we go :)

Black and White stripes is what I spy, to be exact!
Ever since my blog re-vamp, I have been eying black and white stripes everywhere!

In Fashion... (love the contrast of the graphic with the natural and soft, by the way)

On vacation...

While relaxing...

In the bedroom...
(beautiful parquet floor, and the glossy green pop of color, is cool as well!)

 On the dramatic headboard...

Even this stylish umbrella... ella, ella... :)

I think it's difficult to go wrong with Black & White stripes, but you have to commit, since these stripes are very bold and graphic!! They are not for everyone, that's for sure.

You like? No? Why not??

Green with envy!

Talk about a fresh start!
Is this not a fantastic green lacquered coffee table? It belongs to fabric designer Lulu DK and it's in her house in the Bahamas. Would so love to visit... spending a lazy afternoon here, the warm air, the brezze...ahhhh!

This image reminds me so much of India Hicks, don't you agree???

I spy... a new color being used by the designers!
I'm sold, this fresh green totally works in the tropics, what a breath of fresh air!

Yellow!

It's been a while since I have done an "I spy..." post, so today it's about yellow! This is just a small, random collection, of yellow inspired images, they are as pretty as the are cheerful, don't you think?

I really like the bow detail on the dress....

... and the bride wore yellow shoes as well, how fun!!

PRETTY!!

And who better than Snippet & Ink to tie it all together for us!

Have a refreshing day!

... Ranunculuars!

Noticed them at the market last week, wanting to take them home, but with the mess that is still going on here, I figured I would wait until we can really enjoy them!

So, here are some beautiful images to "hold me over".... check out the bouquet that started it all!

So pretty, delicate and feminine!!

Hope I had a chance to brighten your day!

I spy....

... soft linen colored pillar candles!

While out shopping for knobs for our new kitchen, I came upon this color candle. Normally I go for white candles, or a soft blue-ish green (Cucumber sent) from Restoration Hardware.

The above image is from French Essence, by Vicki Archer. I just loved the book, and I am so inspired (read; jealous) of her beautiful life in St. Remy-de-Provence!

And guess what? I was (and I still am!!!) super excited when Vicki Archer left a comment on my tiny little blog! How super cool is that?? I aspire to be as well written, as she is.
If you are not familiar with her books, you should be! ;)
If you can not get your hand on them, check out her fantastic blog here!

Can't wait to light my new candles!

I spy....

... Butterflies.

How pretty are these?
All hand painted by non other than the fabulous Lulu Dekwiatkowski.

I am so excited to share this blog with you. I stumbled upon Trail of Inspiration, via the Shelter. I had no idea Lulu was writing a blog and I am looking forward to follow her and the creative process. I understand Lulu hand paints all her motifs, nothing is done on the computer. Such talent!!

In the end of '09 I went to an event here, the draw for me was the fact that their pattern designers were on hand. They had a table set up, paint ready and came up with great motifs right then and there! It was so cool to see and made me want to get out my paint brush.

In design school, I dreaded having to get up on a Monday morning, really early, to be in school on time for the Media Class. How could I spend four hours painting?? Well, now that it's over, that is the singular most fantastic class, I SO enjoyed the time painting, it's so calming and peace full. Interestingly enough, in the age of technology and the many super talented designers out there doing their thing on the computer, I was the only one in my graduating class who turned out a hand painted Thesis Project. As stress full as it was, I loved rendering it the most!

Happy painting!

... Purple Rain!

This is my all time, absolute favorite image from my files!!
Not only do I love tulips, but the color!!!! The light, the mood.....

Great texture, beautifully executed.

OK, so how chic is this girl in her purple tights!?
Why let a little snow get in the way of fashion, or a paint job??

Great painted purple ceiling, just try to pull this off, but it totally works here. Black lacquer Asian chairs, fantastic painted floors, great use of a long narrow room!

I know purple is either a hit or miss for may people, I certainly did not grow up with any purple - as far as I can remember - but it is definitely a color that works great with all the cool greys and the beautiful light in Scandinavia.

Just so happens that Amethyst is my birthstone..... who knew?

I spy....

....Stripes. Thick black & white stripes.

OK, so at the moment I do not have any stripes in my home, but I am planning on changing that! I have come across so many Black & White striped interiors lately; in magazines, old tear sheets, other blogs and in my files.

I am drawn to the graphic, thick bold stripes....

I have had my eye on this Ikea rug above, since the gorgeous Madeline Weinrib rug is out of my price range.

What is your take? Are the stripes here to stay, or are they done?
